Apprenticeships in South Africa

At Aggreko, we are deeply committed to fostering talent through our Apprenticeship Programme. Beginning in 2021, we proudly recruited our first female electrical apprentice, breaking new ground in an industry traditionally dominated by men. This trailblazing apprentice completed her trade and qualified as an artisan in mid-2023, and she now plays an integral role within our team of technicians.

In the same year, in May, we advanced the career of one of our assistant technicians by enrolling him in an apprenticeship programme focused on diesel fitting. During his training, he honed his skills and successfully qualified as a diesel fitter by the end of 2022. He has since become a valuable member of our technician team in South Africa.

Additionally, in mid-2021, we welcomed an apprentice for a diesel mechanic trade. This apprentice has been diligently working through both theoretical and practical training as part of our competency-based modular training curriculum. He is on track to take his trade test and qualify as an artisan in 2024.

Further emphasizing our commitment, in October 2022, we recruited five new apprentices, including three females in the electrical scope of training. This diverse group is currently engaged in their apprenticeship programme, gaining practical experience alongside our seasoned Aggreko technicians.

Aggreko is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals and creating a more inclusive and dynamic workforce.

Apprenticeships in Ivory Coast

In West Africa, our commitment to nurturing future talent extends to Ivory Coast through our dedicated training programme, launched in May 2022. This initiative aims to provide students nearing the completion of their degree programs at universities and polytechnics with invaluable on-the-job experience. The programme primarily focuses on students specializing in electrical and mechanical fields.

We have established strong partnerships with several universities and polytechnics across Ivory Coast, which nominate candidates to participate in our programme. The duration of the training varies from three to twelve months, in accordance with Ivory Coast law.

Since the programme's inception, we have consistently hosted between four and six trainees at any given time. Currently, we have four trainees engaged in hands-on learning experiences with our team.

To date, 23 candidates have successfully completed the programme. Of these, 14 have continued their journey with Aggreko, with four securing full-time positions and ten becoming contingent workers. This initiative underscores our ongoing commitment to developing skilled professionals and supporting their transition into the workforce. We are dedicated to continuing this valuable programme and fostering the next generation of talent in Ivory Coast.
