Safety is our number one priority

Nothing is more important than our team members, contractors and customers being able to go home every day, safe and unharmed after working in our depots, on the road or at customers’ sites.

We invest heavily in our safety culture so everyone understands their role in keeping everyone safe.

Safety for Life is our all-encompassing health, safety and environmental programme. It’s an integral part of how we work all around the world.

How we reinforce our safety culture

Setting clear expectations

We’re clear and realistic about our safety expectations – for managers and team members. Safety information is always clearly displayed. And every manager, from the CEO down, holds a ‘safety moment’ whenever people are gathered together, virtually or in person.

Driving accountability

We’re all individually accountable for our actions. Line managers are also responsible for providing a safe work environment and learning from incidents and risks. Our excellent team of safety experts support everyone.

Celebrating success

We celebrate our safety successes, just like any other success. Teams often celebrate long periods of injury-free days, positive customer feedback, noticing when colleagues implement new safety approaches, and when colleagues raise a safety risk or a ‘stop work authority’.

Engaging with each other

Having regular conversations about safety builds engagement and trust. These can be triggered by management safety walks, our annual safety survey, ‘toolbox’ team talks, safety moments and safety stories, and involving people in safety committees.

Acting on risks

Everyone in Aggreko can access a health and safety app to report safety risks. We investigate each one so we can identify the root cause of the issue and put in place corrective actions, both locally and globally, where it makes sense to.

Wellbeing and safety go hand-in-hand

At Aggreko, we want everyone to feel at their best. That’s why we offer a range of services through our wellbeing providers. They offer financial and legal guidance, emotional support, life coaching, and advice about nutrition and exercise. Many of these services are available not just to colleagues but also to their families.

Mental health is a particular focus for us, because of its link to safety. Everyone has access to mental health awareness training, and all managers complete additional mental health training. This allows managers to feel knowledgeable and able to have positive wellbeing conversations with their teams and, where necessary, help people access any support they need to make changes so that everyone can be at their best.
