Aggreko engineers find solutions to bring energy where it's needed

As an engineer at Aggreko, you’ll be finding solutions to one of the world’s biggest challenges – how to bring energy to where it’s needed while minimising the impact on the environment.

In the UK and Ireland, we have two sets of engineers:

  1. Our engineering teams in Glasgow design and specify each of our products. In this team, you’ll make sure our colleagues around the world have the equipment they need to serve customers.
  2. Our operational engineers design solutions to meet each customer’s unique requirements. In this team, you’ll use products designed and specified by the engineering teams in Glasgow to deliver exactly what your customer needs.

Reasons to consider joining Aggreko as an engineer

  • Our customers need us to solve their energy problems. As an Aggreko engineer, it’s your job to design solutions that perfectly balance their requirements for reliable energy, environmental impact and cost.

  • It’s one thing to design an individual component, like a solar panel or a battery. But as an engineer at Aggreko, the fun really starts when you need to make them work together with a biodiesel generator to power something like a huge sporting event, taking load profiles and the likely weather conditions into account.

  • Our customers expect us to be dynamic. From an engineering perspective, that means you’ll need to work fast. But it also means you’ll see a project through from start to finish.

  • Sometimes, there isn’t an ideal solution to an engineering challenge. Instead, it’ll be your job to find workable solutions. And if your first approach doesn’t work, you’ll work as a team to quickly learn and improve on it.

  • Our engineers deliver projects all around the world, so you’ll have many opportunities to work internationally. If you prefer not to travel, you’ll still work alongside experts from a whole range of regions and cultures to solve customer challenges.

  • You’ll be working on new technologies, including solar, energy storage and wind, figuring out how to can use them to meet customers’ needs in a way that minimises the environmental impact.

  • As Aggreko engineers, your work helps businesses grow and communities thrive. We bring power to off-grid communities in the Amazon. And closer to home, we make major infrastructure projects possible, like the Viking wind farm around the Shetland Islands. You’ll quickly see the difference you make to businesses and communities.

Thinking of joining us? You’ll need some engineering experience:

  • We value educational achievements and real-world experience.
  • We put a big focus on continuous development, and many of our engineers start their careers with us as apprentices. If you join as an apprentice, we’ll support you to get your HNC and engineering degree.
  • Each role has its own starting requirements. For some, you’ll need to have experience in an electrical engineering environment, with a maths A-level or Higher. Other roles will require an HNC in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Whatever your technical experience, you’ll need to have good communication skills to present technical information in a structured and clear manner.
  • And, whether you’re working directly with customers or internally with other Aggreko colleagues, you’ll need good stakeholder management skills. This is so you can set expectations about what will be delivered and when.

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply for a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our roles, we encourage you to apply. You might be just the person we’re looking for. Bring your energy. Grow your career.
